Flow Platform Now Updates Without Ever Interrupting You

This week brings one of the biggest changes to how Flow Platform works, and if we do our job right, you will never see it happen.

Updates with zero interruption

Flow Platform improves continuously: fixes and new features ship all the time. Until now, putting an update live carried a small risk of a pause, a moment where the platform had to switch over, and anyone working at that instant could be interrupted. That era is over. The platform now updates itself with zero interruption: the new version starts up alongside the running one, takes over the moment it is ready, and the old one quietly steps away. No maintenance window. No dropped sessions. No lost work.

Here is what that means in practice. If you are halfway through entering an appointment while an update goes live, nothing happens to your screen: you finish and save as if nothing changed, because for you nothing did. And since updating no longer needs a quiet moment, improvements reach you the moment they are ready, any hour of any day, instead of waiting for one. This is a foundational change: the platform can now evolve as fast as your business does, without ever asking you to step aside.

Faster everything

Platform responses are now compressed before they travel to your browser, the same idea that makes a zip file smaller than the folder it came from. Less data to send means screens appear faster, most noticeably on large lists and reports and on slower connections.

• Bill codes in operational reports: the billing code attached to each service now appears alongside each event, tightening the link between operations and billing.
• Clear signposting: screens still running on the previous generation of the platform are now labeled Legacy in navigation, so it is always obvious which experience you are in as screens move over to the new one.
• A safety check: removing QuickBooks settings from a record now asks for confirmation first.
